Thank you for your interest in the CAPS Advisory Board. Applications for the 2023-2024 academic year are currently being accepted!

The Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services for the benefit of the Associated Students of Oregon State University (ASOSU) in regard to:

  • CAPS services and support.
  • Hiring selection by participation in search committees.
  • CAPS strategic initiatives.
  • Campus issues related to mental health.

To be eligible to apply for the CAPS Advisory Board, the applicant must:

  • Be enrolled at OSU and pay student fees.
  • Be available for one hour every other week for board meetings during fall, winter, and spring terms. Meeting times are based on board availability.
  • If selected, be able to commit to at least a one-year term.

We strive to have a Board representative of the OSU student body, so we welcome students of all ages, undergraduates and graduate students, and those who represent historically underserved populations such as BIPOC students, veterans, international students, and students with high financial need.

The Board is run and led by students.  A Chair and Vice-Chair (or Co-Chairs) are elected. Leaders orient new Board members and educate the community about CAPS successes, challenges, and needs; work with the CAPS Director to develop agenda items that will move the CAPS mission and strategic plan forward; assist in developing the annual CAPS budget; recruit new members; and assist with other projects as they come up during the academic year.
