At IVS/CAPS, we believe in:
  • Providing a safe place to be heard
  • Providing unconditional support for survivors in their recovery choices
  • Respecting each individual's recovery and healing process
  • Honoring and appreciating diversity and the uniqueness of each individual survivor
All interpersonal & gender-based violence survivors have the right to:
  • Be believed, no matter what situation they were in at the time of the assault
  • Not be exposed to prejudice based upon race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, gender, age, ability, lifestyle, or experience
  • Be treated in a manner that does not take away their control, but empowers them to determine their own needs and how to meet those needs
  • Be provided with information about options for action and determine whether or not they wish to report to law enforcement
  • Have an advocate with them during all medical and legal procedures
  • Be treated with dignity and respect by medical, mental health, and legal personnel
