The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24/7. Are you a Veteran in crisis or concerned about one? Connect with the Veterans Crisis Line to reach caring, qualified responders with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Many of them are Veterans themselves.

Veterans Crisis Line: Veterans, service members, and their loved ones can call 1-800-273-8255 and press 1, send a text message to 838255, or chat online to receive free, confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, even if they are not registered with VA or enrolled in VA health care.

Combat Veterans Call Center: 1-877-WAR-VETS is an around the clock confidential call center where combat Veterans and their families can call to talk about their military experience or any other issue they are facing in their readjustment to civilian life. The staff is comprised of combat Veterans from several eras as well as family members of combat Veterans. This benefit is prepaid through the Veteran’s military service.

Marine Corps DStressLine:  1-877-476-7734 or live chat online. The Marine Corps DSTRESS Line provides 24/7 anonymous support and referral service.  The call center is staffed with veteran Marines, Fleet Marine Force Navy Corpsmen who were previously attached to the Marine Corps, Marine spouses and other family members, and licensed behavioral health counselors specifically trained in Marine Corps culture. DSTRESS Line’s goal is to help callers improve total fitness and develop the necessary skills required to cope with the widely-varying challenges of life in the Corps.

Lines for Life: 1-800-273-8255 or text '273TALK' to 839863. Lines for Life is a nonprofit organization that helps prevent substance abuse and suicide. They also work to promote better mental health, improved access to mental-health services, and to diminish public health threats such as the current epidemic of prescription-opioid overdoses in the U.S. 

Military Helpline:  1-888-457-4838 or text 'MIL1' to 839863. Lines for Life’s Military Helpline offers free, anonymous help and hope 24/7. Military service members, veterans and their families may encounter obstacles to accessing services that they find difficult to overcome. This sensation, along with concerns about confidentiality may stop them from using services at all. Our crisis intervention specialists are equipped to help you with issues including anger, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress and thoughts of suicide.
