Education:

Brigham Young University, BA Psychology

University of Maryland at College Park, MA & PhD Counseling Psychology

Additional Information:

I work with the Student Care Team, Threat Assessment Team, Student Veterans, Student Athlete Welfare Committee, and the Wellness Alignment (which includes CAPS, Student Health, and Recreational Sports).

Theoretical Orientation:

I believe that any good, effective therapy is built on the foundation of a strong client-therapist connection.  Beyond this my approach focuses on utilizing a client’s strengths to help them make the changes they want.  I often find it helpful to take a developmental approach (e.g., taking the view that current problems often began as solutions to previous problems).  I’m also realizing that the older I get, the more integrative I have become.  My roots are in Humanistic approaches, which I’ve since sprinkled with Interpersonal, Positive Psychology, and Cognitive-Behavioral techniques.
